Visit to the kitchen where the 2 baby elephants' meals are prepared located next to their paddocks. This is my personal project of providing the necessary foodstuff for 2 rescued orphaned baby elephants.
NOTE - There is NO budget for rescued baby elephants....it's my own personal little project to set up the kitchen and get their supplies of milk, rice, coconut biscuits, brown sugar and bread! ANY sponsorships are most welcomed with a pray that May God Blesses You!
Would you like to sponsor either Anlene Gold 51 milk? Bread? Coconut biscuits? Rice? Brown sugar? U can either get them on your own OR I can get them and bill you when we meet up.
Why are the baby elephants fed a mixture of Anlene Gold 51 Milk? Bread? Brown sugar or molass? Coconut biscuits? Rice?
The answers…you will know when we are @ the sanctuary!
I will also advise you what the behaviour – both audible and movement – of the elephants would mean while looking @ them plus an in depth explaination of how a conflict arises between wildlife and humans plus the steps the elephant sanctuary takes in order to manage the conflict.
A history of how and when this sanctuary will also be provided based on my ongoing more than 20 years volunteering with the sanctuary and wild elephant rescue operations since 1990 and combined with my 15 past experience as an active jungle warfare specialist in the late 1970s till 1989 during the 2nd armed communist insurgency in the Malaysian jungles.
12++ noon – This will be followed by helping prepare and feed 5 smallish elephants of papayas and napier grass as well as cut up a large basketful of papayas for 5 or 6 adult trained elephants PLUS preparing the 2 baby elephants' lunch of papayas & sugar cane too!Why are elephants fed papaya? sugar cane? Napier grass?
There might also be a POSSIBILITY of helping me fix a prosthetic leg to a smallish female elephant that lost its lower left foot to poachers. This is also my personal project too!
1pm - Lunch specially provided by the Womens’ Association to encourage wives of the rangers to generate income internally via meals for my visitors.
This is a locally prepared home cooked local meal and NOT a Michelin Star fare!
PLEASE ADVISE IF THERE ARE ANY VEGETARIANS – NO yeast or peanuts are used in the preparation of the meals!
245pm onwards - Several big elephants will be led into the river for a bathing demonstration followed by a hand feeding session for the public.
Selected smallish elephants will then be accompanied by their trainers into the river for their early evening bathing WHICH YOU ARE ENCOURAGED to join!!! U will be the last persons to enter the river with the 2 smallish elephants....
The bathing sessions will depend much on how high the water level in the river is as safety is the primary concern for all the elephants, staff and visitors.
NOTE - If the bathing activity is cancelled due to safety concerns, I will try and make arrangements for a visit to the off limit big elephant paddocks located in the jungles to meet some of the bigger elephants including a mid 70s year old female elephant!
345pm – Help cut up napier grass to feed the 2 orphaned baby elephants.
LAST activity for the day...distributing napier grass INSIDE the paddocks of the small elephants!
5pm – Departure back for KL
Just wear comfortable short OR long pants, t-shirts, sandals, bring HERBAL insect repellent, spare dry wear and bath towels for the return journey...and make sure that you have fully charged camera batteries too...
